Best known for its white cliffs and stunning views of the open sea, Uluwatu is often a favorite among visitors looking for picture-perfect white sandy beaches!

Unlike most beaches in Bali, Uluwatu is nestled in the south-western tip of the Bukit Peninsula. And instead of palm trees and calm waters, Uluwatu is ultimate surfer’s paradise, nestled between magnificent cliffs, with hidden coves and secluded areas.

But you don’t have to be a surfer to enjoy the waves. This article will explore the best beach in Uluwatu for swimming so you can enjoy the most of your time in Bali.

Padang Padang Beach

Best Beach In Uluwatu For Swimming: Padang Padang Beach

Perhaps the most well-known, white-sand beach in Uluwatu is Padang Padang Beach, or locally known as Labuan Sait Beach. An iconic shade of white and blue as far as the eyes can see, with soft sands between your toes.

The waves are relatively gentle by the shore so you can definitely go for a swim in the azure waters. Its soft sand is perfect for wading in the shallow waters, and when the tides are low, you can discover new paths along the shores, finding new alcoves and tide pools. And just a little ways before Padang Padang Beach, you can find the entrance to another hidden gem nestled between Padang Padang Beach and Suluban Beach, Thomas Beach.

The route to Padang Padang Beach is fairly easy as the entrance is close to the main road, Jl. Labuan Sait. You’ll need to pay a small entrance fee of IDR 15.000, and an extra IDR 5.000 if you come with your own vehicles for parking fees, before walking a narrow set of stairs that lead to paradise.

Dreamland Beach

Best Beach In Uluwatu For Swimming: Dreamland Beach

Just like the name, Dreamland Beach will transport you to an ethereal realm! Thanks to its convenient location in the Pecatu neighbourhood, this destination is a favourite among holiday-goers seeking a calming coast to swim in with their friends and families. Plus, they have some of the best sunsets in Bali!

With relatively calm waters, Dreamland Beach is a favourite for a reason. There’s nothing more refreshing than dipping your toes in the cool waters when the sun is high and the sea is as blue as the horizon. It’s quite a sizable stretch of sand between cliffs, and when the tides are low, you can walk a little further.

The entrance to Dreamland Beach is free, but you will have to pay for parking if you bring your own vehicles—IDR 5,000 for scooters or motorbikes, and IDR 10,000 for cars. Once inside, you’ll walk past stalls and vendors for a quick souvenir or a refreshing beverage. And if the heat gets too unbearable, you can rent one of the chairs and umbrellas for IDR 100,000 for 2 hours.

Melasti Beach

What makes Melasti Beach the perfect beach in Uluwatu for swimming is the creation of natural shallow pools separated by a long stretch of reef. A perfectly flat section of the beach for swimming and soaking in the water.

Entrance fee is IDR 10.000, and you can find spacious parking areas at Melasti Beach before going down to the stretch of natural pool with sandy floors. You can definitely bring your family and your little ones to swim in the calm waters, safe from undercurrents and rocky reefs.

Green Bowl Beach

Another favourite beach for swimming, Green Bowl Beach is nestled between two cliffs, offering a nice shade during the afternoons. The crescent-shaped shore offers a nice, shallow spot for a swim during their mid to high tide. Surfing area is about 200 metres from the shore should you wish to swim a little further.

To enter, you will need to pay IDR 5.000, and an additional IDR 2.000 for vehicle parking. And to get to the beach, you will need to climb down a steep flight of stairs—approximately 317 steps down (and back up!).
